Northwest Portland Guesthouse

European-style lodging in the heart of Portland, Oregon

Our Story

We opened our first Portland Guesthouse in 2002. After running international hostels for over 20 years, we wanted to offer nice private rooms for couples and families. Our guesthouse rooms give privacy and comfort, yet access to our community of world travelers and all the amenities of the hostel.

Our first guesthouse was 4 blocks away from the hostel and registration. In 2005, we were able to acquire the Elliston, a historic landmark, located right behind our original building. This allowed us to more than double the size of the hostel, common areas, outdoor space, and bring the guesthouse on site. In 2007, we purchased another historic house on the block, our Greenleaf House, which added 7 more guesthouse rooms and an amazing outdoor area that we call our Secret Garden. The “Garden” is home to our weekly summer folk music series, as well as barbeques, outdoor movies, and other events.

In 2009, we added our 4th historic house on the block, the Queen Anne-style O’Donnell House, with 8 more Guesthouse rooms and more outdoor garden space. We now have a total of 22 guesthouse rooms in 3 historic homes.

For those of you who choose us as your home while visiting our amazing city and neighborhood, we hope your experience here is a great one!
